CWA Update!
Dear fans and friends of CWA and a Work In Progress,
I really want to thank you for all that you have helped us accomplish through CWA and A Work In Progress. It has been a real blessing to me and the cast and crew of Progress to share with all of our listeners the experience of Progress. It has blessed us and we hope it has blessed you also. Thank you for your support and fan mail over the years. The work we have been doing has been worthwhile and it has been to God’s glory. Through God’s provision and the efforts, time, talent and commitment of many people Progress and CWA has been made possible.
We have been recording Progress for 9 years and are in our seventh season. At the end of this season, we will have recorded 80 episodes. This is really no small feat and it has been amazing to be a part of the ministry. However, when we started CWA it was for more than just to create a radio drama and be on the radio or Internet. Our goals included different forms of Christian Media, and mainly included doing Christian films. When we started in the year 2000, there were new opportunities because of technology changes and the Internet that allowed us to start with the radio drama, so that’s where we began. There were not the open doors for us to do anything with film. Now however, with the further advance in technology, the Internet and Christian film making in general we believe it is possible for us to work on this aspect of our ministry. Our experience in producing Progress has also done much to equip us for film making.
After a lot of prayer and consideration, we have decided that it is time for Progress to come to an end and for us to put our efforts into film. This was not an easy decision for anyone, least of all me. Progress has been such a part of my life for the last nine years that has impacted almost every area of my life. So it is with sadness but also fulfillment and a sense of accomplishment that we bring Progress to a close.
Seeing the end of Progress is difficult but we are at the same time excited to be moving in a new direction with films. It is a direction that we hope all of you will join us in. We hope that you will continue to enjoy A Work in Progress and that you will enjoy our films as well. You have supported us in the past and we need and hope for that support now and in the future. Let me lay out what this all means for practical purposes. We have finished most recording for new episodes of Progress, but we have six episodes in season seven that we have not yet aired. We will air the episodes once every other month online through Oneplace.com and our website. Our partnership with Oneplace.com will end at the end of this year and the remaining episodes will only be available on our website. The series will be complete in April 2010. We plan to make all of our current and past episodes available online on our website for the foreseeable future and we plan to make every season of Progress available on CD.
As for the start of filming we plan to follow a model similar to Sherwood Baptist Church. Sherwood has made three movies, Flywheel, Facing the Giants and Fireproof. The first movie they made for about $20,000 and with very little experience. They believe it was their calling to make movies and we believe it is our calling also. In all of their films they have used only volunteers. This is our goal also as we are a non-profit and plan to continue to operate as a non-profit. Our goal is to start filming as early as the summer of 2010. We don’t know exactly what distribution method we will use for the film but it could be anywhere from DVD sales to church showings and possibly even in local theaters. If you have questions about any of this please send us an email.
As you can imagine, this is a large undertaking and a step of faith. We really would appreciate your prayers for us and this new part of our ministry. Please prayerfully consider the ways you may be able to help the ministry of Christian Walk Alive and specifically our new movie project.
Sincerely,
Larry Amon
CWA President
